Apply to be a S&S Editor 2022-23!

We are looking for Editors to help produce the paper next year, and we would love each and everyone one of you to be apart of it! Please consider applying! We have attached a document that describes each of the Editor positions (as well listed positions below), look over it and think about which positions you would be interested in! Please note your qualifications in the form, include your interest in writing, editing, experiences in English classes or other publications, and participation (if any) in layout.

You can apply using this attached google form! If you are currently an Editor and would like to be one next year, you too will have to fill out an application! Applications will be due on Monday, May 2nd, at 11:59 pm!

Note: All applicants should have submitted at least 2 articles for the past year (but not required). Positions will be announced at the end of May or top of June with a meeting will be scheduled late in June. New editors will be expected to work during the
summer to have the first issue ready for September 2022.

POSITIONS TO APPLY TO:

Editor-in-Chief: Oversees all Sword & Shield Activities, including – but not limited to – finalizing edits and the paper layout, overseeing the website, organizing Sword & Shield meetings and events, coordinating volunteers, working with sponsors and advertisers, leading planning meetings and workshops, etc. This position is usually two people who have previously been Editors, but this is not required. Having a good understanding of Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop is helpful and encouraged but not required. 

Copy Editor: Revises each article for grammar, content, and formatting errors, and reviews the entire layed out paper for edits prior to being published and printed. 

Layout Editor: Lays out the first three pages of the paper (including cover), edits and revises each section, prior to being published and printed. Having a good understanding of Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Photoshop is helpful and encouraged but not required. 

Webmaster: Manages the website, social media, and advertisements, including: posting individual articles and the full issue to the website, and posting to the social media. 

Sports Editor: Seeks out, writes, and edits all Sports Articles, and lays out the Sports Section. No knowledge of Adobe InDesign is required, as it will be taught at the beginning of next year. 

News Editor: Seeks out, writes, and edits all News Articles, and lays out the News Section. No knowledge of Adobe InDesign is required, as it will be taught at the beginning of next year. 

Arts & Entertainment Editor: Seeks out, writes, and edits all Arts & Entertainment Articles, and lays out the Arts & Entertainment Section. No knowledge of Adobe InDesign is required, as it will be taught at the beginning of next year. 

Student Life Editor: Seeks out, writes, and edits all Student Life Articles, and lays out the Student Life Section. No knowledge of Adobe InDesign is required, as it will be taught at the beginning of next year. 

Opinions Editor: Seeks out, writes, and edits all Opinions Articles, and lays out the Opinions Section. No knowledge of Adobe InDesign is required, as it will be taught at the beginning of next year.
