The WIAA met on April 21st via video to discuss the high school spring sport season, and ultimately cancelled the spring sport season. This move was anticipated by many, especially after Governor Tony Evers extended his “Safer At Home” order through May 26th and closed all public and private schools for the rest of the year. Also, the University of Wisconsin announced their facilities will not hold any WIAA state tournaments, thus putting locations into question for Boys Tennis, Boys Golf, and Girls Softball. Earlier, before the WIAA announced their decision, the Big Eight put out a statement that they will not hold spring competitions. The WIAA also announced on the 21st that 30 days of summer contact will be allowed for spring sport coaches if the team includes seniors, giving seniors one last chance to see their teammates and coaches, assuming schools will be open over the summer. That, unfortunately, is up in the air too.
