New Year’s Eve is approaching fast and with comes it the long-upheld tradition of making New Year’s Resolutions. While we may make these resolutions, only about 8% of us will achieve or uphold our goals. 80% of us will fail. And who knows what happens to the other 12%?
Those numbers might have you feeling disillusioned with the whole idea, there is a way to increase your likelihood of success. When you make your resolution, be more specific, and if at all possible, make a plan.
Here’s an example:
Resolution – read more.
Specific goal – Read at least 20 books in 2020.
Plan – Read a book for at least 15 minutes each day to achieve the goal.
If you make the goal more specific and measurable, it becomes easier to stay on track. You can check your progress towards your goal, and you can see how far you’ve come from the beginning. Good luck to all!
