Pumpkin Spicy Fall Books

Sweater weather, pumpkin spice lattes, and the beautiful scenery are only a few of the perks that Fall bestows upon us. In fact, my favorite part of this season, reading, is something many people don’t even associate with Fall. However, I’m here to give you a list of three books that will for sure spice up this season and leave you wanting for more.

Title + Author: Walk on Earth a Stranger by Rae Carson

Rating: 3.5/5

Plot: A historical fantasy that is set during the time of the American gold rush era. The story follows Leah Westfall, who, thanks to her special powers, can sense gold. After the death of her parents, Leah must learn to cope with this secret by herself and try not to get killed in the process.

Why I Liked It: This story is very powerful and although it is a fantasy novel, it discusses gender roles and important issues. It’s also very interesting and a page-turner!

Title + Author: Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

Rating: 4/5

Plot: The story follows Simon Snow, a wizard, as he struggles through his last year at magic school and his relationship with his arch nemesis Baz.

Why I Liked It: I am a huge fan of Harry Potter, and this book is very similar to that whole series. It’s also dark and light at the same time, with a main theme of fantasy with some romantic elements.

Title + Author: Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco

Rating: 4/5

Plot: On the outside, Audrey Rose Wadsworth lives a lavish life filled with privilege and wealth. However, she has a secret. Despite society’s expectations, she often sneaks into a laboratory and studies forensic medicine. When her research leads her to investigate into a serial killer, she starts uncovering secrets that may change everything she thought she knew.

Why I Liked It: This book had me on the edge of my seat with all the plot twists! If you’re looking for some post-Halloween scares, you’ll enjoy this read.
